Lying to Run Our Businesses? Part 2
Updated: Feb 15
Before reading this post, make sure to read Part 1 of the debate. At the end of Part 1, MW claimed that the “big turn-around” would not work on him. See below for the rest of the debate.
Me: Actually, it has been working the whole time. You made the original claim in this argument that Christians might be “lying” for the purpose of running their “businesses.” However, you have demonstrated an inability to account for your argument’s immaterial concepts (such as truth and morality) in your atheistic, naturalistic worldview.
Instead, you have to rely upon biblical concepts, which you claim not to believe. You are using laws of morality and laws of logic…immaterial things that make sense in a biblical worldview (Jeremiah 33:25, Hebrews 1:3), but not in your naturalistic worldview. Your own arguments demonstrate that you can never get away from borrowing biblical concepts.
MW: Nope. I want to see our human race think for once. There's no need to be afraid of death. That fate awaits us all. What we have to fear about is holding back humanity and learning and science for fear that you might have been wrong all your life. I don't hold back my education in life to satisfy a whim. It's time to grow up.
As I was preparing my response, he sent another message just a couple minutes before I sent my response. I did not see it right away, but there wasn’t much to respond to, especially as he resorted to an ad hominem attack. Also, even though this debate is not extremely long, it actually spanned about six hours because of the gaps of time between responses. I needed to turn my full attention to other responsibilities, such as my family. Therefore, I decided to end the debate in my last post, but to try to end it in a loving way.
MW: If you completely erased knowledge of god and the stories in the bible, it would disappear never to return. If you erased all knowledge of science it would be redeveloped most likely exactly the same as it is today because testing theories always provides evidence for answers.
I'm sorry but your living a lie. And you will have to prove otherwise or not only are you duped, but you are a snakeoil salesman and a crook.
Me: Creation scientists do not hold back “humanity and learning.” Perhaps you did not know that famous scientists like Isaac Newton, James Clerk Maxwell, James Joule, Johannes Kepler, Louis Pasteur, Dr. Raymond Damadian (inventor of the MRI), and many others, are biblical creationists: https://answersingenesis.org/creation-scientists/profiles/ In regards to wanting to see the human race “think for once,” I believe I’ve given you enough to think about in this discussion. I’ve enjoyed our discussion, and I hope we can maintain mutual respect in any future discussions. I also want you to know this: I do not see you as an “animal,” but as being specially made in the image of God. I hope and pray that you will seek the ultimate Truth, which is Jesus (John 14:6).
MW: Creation scientists is a conflict of terms.
I had decided to end the debate, so I was not going to respond to this comment. Of course, he is using what is known as the “No True Scotsman Fallacy” in his claim that creationists cannot be real scientists. I curiously checked the thread later on and found that after about an hour MW had one last follow-up comment:
MW: On your stance of Mutual respect. I'll shake your hand on that. However I expect, in that situation that you let gay people be who they are without the finger pointing, Transgender people with the same respect. That women be allowed to make their own decisions when it comes to reproduction. Because simply put that's their path, and not yours. Are we in agreement there?
Sadly, MW did not return the respect that I had shown to him. His last post was nothing more than a red herring. It was a trap to reel me back in to the debate, but I wasn’t going to fall for it. Perhaps he was still fuming over the fact that he was unable to adequately answer my questions. My hope and prayer is that God is continuing to stir MW's heart and mind by bringing my challenging questions to mind.
